Facilities and capacity
Within the grounds, a lovely Grade II listed building, the Bank Barn, has been sympathetically restored into a versatile high class venue for up to about 150 seated guests. Stone walls, an open beamed oak ceiling, modern lighting, elegant decoration, large glass doors... It is an absolutely special setting for your big day.
They are licensed to host civil wedding ceremonies, either in the barn -perfect for larger parties at weekends, the outdoor pavilion (weather permitting) the medieval hall or in the main house -more suitable for smaller parties during the week. Tables, chairs, linen, crockery, cutlery, glasses are all provided inclusive of the venue hire fee. Besides, many reliable florists, hair and make-up stylists, dressmakers, photographers, cake makers, music bands and other wedding suppliers can be recommended.
Different catering choices are available from their on-site kitchen, using locally sourced produce, much of from Askham Hall itself or the eight century old family estate, the Lowther Estate. Enjoy the exquisite creations of the popular skilled chefs from their sister establishment The George and Dragon, in Clifton -winners of the Cumbria Tourism Taste Awards. In addition, a fully stocked bar can be personalised based specifically on your needs in the main room.

St. Peter's Church is situated a stone's throw away. A lovely and romantic walk will take you from the church through a secret door into the gardens and onto the wedding barn. 13th century St. Michael's Church, with its historic Lowther family connections and lovely views over Askham Hall, the River Lowther and Lowther Castle, is also very near.
