About Wordsworth House and Garden
The Wordsworth House and Garden is a marvellous Georgian house, situated in Cockermouth, on the border of the Lake District National Park. William Wordsworth wrote that he was “much favour’d in my birthplace”. You will find out why. Enjoy the history of how William Wordsworth used to write poems and how he became an incredibly important figure as a British poet. Being smaller than most other historic houses, you will love the intimate feel that it will give your wedding. The grandeur of the rooms will give you memories that will last a lifetime.
Facilities and capabilities
The Wordsworth House and Garden can hold up to 40 guests for a civil ceremony, which would take place in the dining room where William Wordsworth himself used to dine. The ceremony can also take place in the upstairs drawing room or the beautiful Georgian kitchen.
Guests can relish in the local surroundings, have a drink on the terrace or explore the intricate walled gardens. Guests can savour champagne and canapés in any of the exquisite locations. Smaller parties are also offered a light lunch or cream tea.
A harpsichord is available for ceremony music, or as background music while your guests view the house.
Costumed Georgian servants are available to serve drinks and canapés, and to greet your guests. This is a ceremony only venue.
