Excellent, beautiful and absolutely more than we expected. We were asked to be the Olympic Wedding for Bury as the torch was going past our venue on that day. From the first day we went to see the venue and meet the staff we felt comfortable and happy that we had made the right decision. The menus, information etc. were simple to understand and we knew exactly what we were paying for. We opted for the most expensive package which even with double the numbers still only came to approx £5000. Also included in the package was:- Champagne and canape reception, red carpet, master of ceremonies, stunning 3 course meal, wine with the meal and champagne for the toast and cake cutting service. Also within this package you can choose from a number of other things you may want doing for you ie place cards, table plan, centre pieces, napkins, favours, balloon cascade, card box, guest book and even the DJ.
I decided to do quite alot ie place cards, card box, favours, guest book myself. I had a meeting with the lady who designs the room and I was finding it hard to decide on the centre piece, however Gillian and I discussed my wedding bouquet and Gillian went to the wholesalers where I purchased my flowers from and she matched my flowers and colour scheme perfectly and used large glass vases. She had put lights in the vases so at the night time they were switched on and the vases were put on the evening tables, they were beautiful. Also a friend offered to make my wedding cake which was 3 tier one. However, it was a disaster, I was so upset but luckily Gillian at the Venue just told me to take it only 3 days before so she could look at it. I had to then go and buy a large and extra large cake from Marks and Spencers and took that to her. We were taken aback when we saw the cake on the wedding day, she had made it into a 5 tier cake with the most beautiful butterfly decorations on, which was our theme and everybody was in awe of it. Due to us being the Olympic Wedding the managers of the venue took care of all the timing as we had been told we were having our pictures taken with the torch bearer and torch. At 4pm we were whisked away to the other side of the building to a secret, secure location and when we arrived we greeted by the mayor, journalists, the olympic committee etc and they all gave us a round of applause and we felt like royalty. We then had our pictures taken with the torch, bearer and fusiliers and also with the mayor. When we got back to the reception the fusiliers had made their way back round a different way and was in the room on stage waiting to play for us and our guests which was a huge surprise. They also organised a room for us to be intereviewed by a radio station. The managers and staff organised such alot and every little detail ran smoothly. The whole day was more than we expected and I would recommend our Venue to anyone. The price for the number of guests and for what we wanted could not be beaten and the care and details that was put into it - no words could really describe it. They were absolutely wonderful.
