From childhood sweethearts to happily ever after.
We wanted our wedding day to be a relaxed, magical day with a timeless feel – I think we managed to create that. We decided that we would do as much of the decor ourselves. I made our 'Mint to be' favours, table plan with floral arrangement and kids pack (colouring books, sweet jar and crayons).
We were also very lucky to have a friend who offered to handmake our 18ct gold bands for us at Birmingham Jewellery Quarter.
For years we spoke about our day and finally on Sunday 12th August 2018 our dreams came true. We chose to spend our day at Moor Hall Hotel Sutton Coldfield and can honeslty say the chosen venue was amazing. The theme for our day was timeless chic, all white, pearl and bridesmaids in dark navy floor length dresses to match the grooms navy tweed suits from Dapper Dan's.
The day started with an early wake up call of hairdressers and make-up artists, followed by the arrival of our baby son and two other bridesmaids. The ceremony was an early one at 12pm but there was no rushing in our room, we were so relaxed, just taking in all the memories. I got ready with my mom, four bridesmaids and two flower girls Matilda and Arabella (both 2 years old). At 10am our fantastic photographer Jon from Keylight arrived and instantly started taking snaps, then arrived our flowers from Entwined and I took 5 minutes to go and view the room in which was being prepared by Dressed chaircovers for our wedding breakfast. Back in the room the girls started to get into their dresses and just outside our window we got a sneak peek of the boys and my future husband having their photos taken on the lawn. Reality started to kick in, followed by the emotions. Then came a knock at the door, it was our wedding co-ordinator Jamie to inform me he would be back in 20 minutes to escort me up to the registrars before the ceremony. Panic did then kick in and I finally got to put on 'the dress'! My beautiful Viva bride 'Dakota' dress from Wed2b Solihull and lace edged cathedral veil.Continue reading »
The ceremony was how I had pictured, white candlelit lanterns flowed down the aisle, white aisle runner and chairs covered with a simple white bow. Perfect, but little did I know until I entered the room, that my fiance had arranged Enigma (string quartet) to play me down the aisle. It was the most magical surprise, they took my breath away playing Canon in D for my arrival. We signed the register to Christina Perry 'Thousand words' and exited as Husband and Wife to John Legand 'All of me'. I really couldn't have asked for anything more perfect for us.
Our guests then enjoyed a selection of canapes and drinks with Enigma in background, whilst Jon snapped more pictures as we all enjoyed the hospitality of Moor Hall. The children took to outside where we had arranged Something Borrowed to host lawn games and have a traditional 3 wheel ice-cream cart serving vanilla, strawberry clotted cream and mint choc chip for all the guests.
We sat for our wedding breakfast at 4pm. The meal was lovely starting with a roast pepper and tomato soup, followed by a mango and passionfuit sorbet, roast sirloin of beef and to finish with a strawberry clotted cream cheesecake...it was all to die for. Drinks flowing came the speeches of my father, groom and bestman.
We had chosen a simple 3 tier white cake with top tier lace design, middle tier of hand made roses and beaded lower tier, made by Net cakes.
For the evening entertainment we chose Vibe entertainment who were fantastic; the music flowed all night with everyone enjoying the moments dancing and having fun. For our first dance we had Ed Sheeran Perfect, the words 'we was just kids when we fell in love' fit us and then I surprised my Dad with getting him up to dance with me to Leona Lewis Footprints. Tears of happiness all round, the evening was so much fun.
The memories of our day will live with us forever and the classic, white, timeless day was just as I had always wanted.
Dreams do come true.
