27 Jul, 2019Our Real Wedding
We had a really nice, low key wedding. I spent the night before with our kids at the Templars Hotel in Baldock, and my bridesmaids met us there on the morning of. We went to Baldock Community Centre with family and friends at 8 am to set up and make it perfect. The staff there couldn't do enough for us! Then we went back to the hotel to start the process of getting ready. My sister/maid of honour done everyone's hair and makeup, and it was so calm and stress-free. Our photographers turned up just before 11 am, and are honestly the loveliest people I have ever met. One went to take photos of the hall before going to where Jamie was getting ready, and the other stayed with us and put everyone at ease while snapping away. At about 3 pm, I had my first look photos taken with my mum than my dad, and they're reactions made me feel like a princess. We then made our way to Stevenage Registry Office for the ceremony. We arrived at 4.15 pm, where I then had my pre-ceremony interview and waited until 4.30 pm for the ceremony to start. All too quickly, the music began and my flower girl and page boy were walking into the room, followed by my best friend, then my sister, and finally me and my dad. I couldn't tell you who was in that room other than Jamie. Then minute he saw me he started crying, and he was all I could look at. This was really happening. The ceremony went without a hitch, and I can't remember much of it. We had some photos taken, and then our confetti shot outside, then went off for our photos alone while everyone else headed to the community centre. It rained, but we got some lovely shots and can't wait to get our professional photos back! We then went back to the hall, had our group photos and partied the rest of the night. We did our own buffet and hired a hog roast, which went down really well with everyone. Our DJ was fantastic and the photographers said we're the best they had seen at a wedding. And the day went by perfectly. Looking back, we are glad we chose a low key wedding rather than the big princess style, at a venue with restrictions. These things are nice, but our day was much more us and we spent roughly £7000 including £2000 for our familymoon to Gran Canaria for 2 weeks. We had the best day and the Wedding Wire app made it so easy to keep track of everything we needed to do.
