Dating back to the mid-18th century, Knighton House was originally Durweston's village farmhouse; it then became part of the Portman family estate in 1774. Many members of the Portman family inhabited the house until 1950 when ownership of Knighton was taken over by the Crown Estate. Then, Knighton House became a prep school for girls; and now it has become an outstanding venue for couples who want to celebrate their big day in Dorset.
